SFH Figure Welcome to Strength for Her™!

This blog was designed to discuss current topics in women’s health and fitness. It is intended as a community for women who are working towards a common goal – strength of body, mind, and soul. We strive to foster an understanding of nutrition, exercise, and mental well being.

Your body is the vehicle through which you experience life. We only have one body, and it has to last a lifetime. Yet in today’s busy times, it’s easy to let health and fitness fall to the bottom of the priority list. Since our mind and body are so closely connected, our moods and state of mind are affected by our poor diet and health choices. It can be a vicious cycle that’s difficult to break out of.

Perhaps you’ve wanted to improve your health for a long time, but it seemed too daunting. Perhaps you’ve neglected your health as life got more chaotic with age. Maybe you’ve never quite been in the shape you wanted to be. Either way, it only takes one thing to get into your best shape possible: the commitment to change.

While SFH focuses on good health and nutrition, we do not condone unrealistic body expectations. We believe that all women are created with a unique and beautiful shape. It’s ludicrous to suggest that all women should look a certain way or should conform to an “ideal” body type. No matter what a woman’s shape, she can still pursue a healthy lifestyle by using REAL measurements of fitness and health, and not the manufactured ones seen in magazines or on TV. An important part of becoming a strong woman is developing a healthy body image, which can be a big challenge for women of all sizes and shapes. Here we work to develop self-love by celebrating our differences while uniting in the common goal of strength and fitness, in all of its forms.

Take some time to look around at the articles in our archives. Get involved by adding your comments and joining the discussion. It’s always easier to work towards a goal when you have an active community of others to cheer you on. Spend some time learning how to best fuel your body, and then get out there and practice what you’ve learned. Before long, you’ll be well on your way to building strength inside and out!
